DDR

For this holiday break, my mom brought home new toys for us to play with! Lucky for us this included Dance Dance Revolution. This video shows the effects of being deprived of all game systems other than super Nintendo. For the sake of the privacy of the subject I've decided to change her name in this study. Lets call her, Becka. She agreed to let me post this movie for the sake of research. As you can clearly tell, her abilities are, below average for a girl her age. However, it is very entertaining to watch. At least for my family and me....

Clean as Spring.

Today was clean check. AKA White glove. It sounds daunting no? Kind of puts images in your head of crazy ladies wearing white gloves touching everything hoping their gloves stay white... Thats not quite what happened but it was scary none the less. But now I can enjoy a SPOTLESS apartment. No exaggeration. Other news, six more sleeps till I get to be in my real bed! Yay! Merry Christmas! Other news, I'm practically engaged. Well, this boy asked me if he could sit by me in Biology and I took it as a proposal. He doesn't know yet. We did "extra credit" together this week though. I think its a sign things are going "well!"

PS. This is our roommate picture.

and here is our Christmas tree. We are festive.

FHE

This is my FHE familia. They are so nice.

So this one time, I was at the ward talent show. I was sitting next to two of my FHE sisters and I was a little bored. I decided to practice my winking skills and see how powerful they could be. I practiced a little to my self, adding a seductive smile to top it off. The time came when I got bored doing it with out a recipient. So I looked across the room, and there he was. They shyest of all my FHE brothers. One that I had hardly spoken to. I looked into is eyes, winked, seductively smiled and looked away. Boom. Power was released. Little did I know the effect that wink would have. Through out the show I received many a glances I do believe. The next day, I happened to run into him. A conversation was struck. Our first ever. And that my friends, is the power of my winks. They bring shy boys blushing, and then talking.

October

Well, this is a jumble of pictures that have been taken in the month of October. Its a general overview of some of the exciting things that have taken place! This are going pretty well. I'm getting used to livin on my own. I miss my familia but that's to be expected. I've decided on a major in English Education with an undecided minor. I'm talking a math class next semester just to see how it goes.

This is Courtney and I on Halloween! We were sister super heros. I am Super Princess rose pedals, and she is Super princess Lily pedals. We have some very impressive powers. I can't name them online, our our enemies may get too many ideas.

This is us super heros with our Rock Star friend who is soooooooooooooooo famous. She agreed to pose for a picture with us on the condition that we didn't exploit it or anything. I probably shouldn't have posted it......

This is the gang at Ally's bridal shower. Crazy. He's a super guy, and she's a super gal, so I guess its ok.

This is Kristen and I counting all our pennies! We came up with eight dollars and felt richer than JK Rowling herself. We went to target to see what we could buy. We found some sweet bouncy balls, and funny door mats. Mine says, "dead end" and hers says "open late."

This is when My roomies and I dragged our mattresses out to the front room and had a giant slumber party that lasted a few days! It was pretty exciting. It made for some good jumping spots. They are my bundles of joy.

This is my friend Angie and I haveing a bubble gum blowing contest. A favorite pastime if I may say so...

Dirt and Career Plans.

Miles and miles of dirt. That’s what I see as I gaze out my closed not open window. This is what there is to see when you drive from college to home. Not much. An optimist might note the occasional tree, or the hill/mountain with exotic native sagebrush on it. A pessimist would call this landscape ugly or harsh. I am neither an optimist nor a pessimist; therefore, I take note that there are in fact miles and miles of dirt interrupted only by small farm cottages and telephone poles. Assign whatever adjective you want to before dirt, its still dirt.

On a different note, Yay! I’m coming to visit the place of my family. Goody goody gumdrops.

On yet another note, it is time for me to make a very important decision. I am seeking guidance and opinions from all you fans out there. What should I be when I grow up? There are several options to chose from and several different levels of education that can be strived for. What is right for me? Here are some paths I have been thinking about:

1. Lunch Lady. This got me out of some sticky situations in middle school with pushy guidance counselors, why can’t it work again? It’s a dependable job that I could reach out to all kinds of kids as I slop Sloppy Joes onto trays, or even tuna surprise. I could receive gratification and warm fuzzys as I watch the surprise on their faces when they find that the secret ingredient isn’t in fact tuna!
2. Flight attendant. I’m pretty sure that if I was to choose this for my career path, I would be the favorite daughter hands down. If I’m starving for attention, this is the way to get it. I could fly my parents wherever their hearts desired. Also, I could fly to exotic places and meet attractive foreign priesthood holders with accents to make me their island princess.
3. High School Teacher. Most likely of the English language. If this were my future career, I could talk all the time everyday. I could tell kids whatever I wanted and they would most likely believe me. I could live vicariously thorough my students the high school experience year after year after year and virtually never grow up! On a more serious note, I could inspire kids as they learn about the world, and the way people think and work, and how to appreciate the thoughts, feelings and ideas others have taken the time to record onto paper.
4. Misc. This is the spot where I put everything else I might want to do someday. Art education. Graphic design. Social work? Physics teacher. Home family and consumer science teacher. Inventor. Author and illustrator of children’s books. Worm Doctor.

Teachers like Cheese.

Today I gave my first college presentation and turned in my first college research paper. It was all really exciting. I had to give a 20-25 min. presentation about teaching sign language in child development. My group was funny. We introduced our topic by watching the napolean dynamite clip of "happy hands club". It never get old. Really. We made a cute powerpoint, with pink and stuff, and we all dressed to match. Our teacher loved it! I was shocked. But she loved every minute of it. We even made cookies in the shape of hands forming the ILOVEYOU sign. The phone fast continues. I'm actually just enjoying it. If it weren't a gateway to a social life and communication with my family, I would bag it all together. Its refreshing to not have that sick attatchment to artifical communication. Don't get me wrong, I still want the phone to get here from the BlEEP mail man. (bleep means nice)

Schedule

Scenario 1:
On a typical day I wake up, go to Biology, come home and shower, do homework, eat lunch, go to child development, come home, do homework, dilly dally, eat dinner, go to health class, come home watch a movie, eat, go work out at the gym, come home, read, dilly dally, plan out my schedule for the next day, go to sleep. Whoo hoo! The day begins again!!!

Scenario 2:
On a typical day I shoot out of bed, and leap to my feet. Then I stumble to the shower to refresh my mind and skin. I spray good smelling stuff on just in case someone sniffs me. Then I go to the kitchen and whip up some eggs benedict. I offer some to my roommates. Jorden accepts. We enjoy chit chat over our dining table. Following breakfast, I take my time applying my make-up, and fixing my hair so I lays just right. I go choose from my closet, which is over flowing with fashions from the latest designers. When I am all ready to enter the public, its time for class! There is a knock at the door, and I know it is my male model escort. Whenever I have to walk anywhere, he comes with me for protection and status. I proceed to attend my classes, being the smartest person at the whole university. Sometimes I have to teach the professors. After a light lunch and some lime spritzers, I head to the library to sit and look pretty while gazing over a book. For dinner, the male model takes me on a date, because everyone knows he is madly in love with me. Not lust, love. After dinner we head out to the town to cruise around and check out the party scene. I enter the parties and everyone looks, and everyone wants to dance with me so it's kind of annoying. We leave and decide to just go gaze at the stars wrapped in each other’s arms instead. I'm ok with it.

Promise

This is a shout out to all you fans out there, who are hopelessly devoted to me. I promise I will give you a juicy blog soon. A bit of news, my phone is sad and broken. The screen does not work. Sometimes more than that doesn't work. So, I must wait here with limited access to the outside world. Its exciting though when it does work! Yet tormenting when it doesn't. TBC

My lover.

Hey all! So, college life basically revolves around food. You go where the free food is, and the day revolves around the meals. So, I like food. The following pictures show my deep love. I think I will just marry food. It will always be there, it always knows just what to say, it smells nice, its comforting, it has just the right touch, it loves to spend time with me and gives me its undivided attention, and, to top it off, i swear I've heard it chuckle at my jokes. So no, I'm not going to be an old cat woman, but I may be an old fat woman.

Exhibit 1: very big cookie. yum.

Exhibit 2: Grating cheese for the very first time ever!!! Thanks mom!

Exhibit 3:Rice-er-oni. One small step for a normal person, yet one giant leap for me!

Exhibit 4: Brownies. Need I say more.

Poem

For my health and wellness class, I set a goal to write a poem today to enhance my emotional well being. Here goes...

I like peaches.
I like beaches.
I like Leaches.

Oh wait, no I don't.

Ok new poem.

Food.

Hunger has gripped my soul.
I hear coconuts in the backround.
I see in a shade of bubblegum.
I smell cookies where ever I go.
Or so I think.
Where ever I go food follows in my thoughts.
Where ever I go food follows in my hips.
I jog.
I try to lose it as I forge new paths.
But when I come home, there it sits, next to my muli-viamins.

one more poem.

Mail

The flag goes up.
I watch.
The mail man drives away.
I run.
The box is empty except coupons.
Maybe tomorrow.

Thats all for today folks. Stay tuned, maybe I'll be published someday.

Guitars Unplugged/ Friends

This is in response to those of you….ahem....(Mom)...who didn't think I had friends. That's not very nice yet besides the point! I have been here in Rexburg for a whole week and a half now! It feels like way way longer though for some reason. I was thinking about how i missed my old friends and the luxury of knowing so many people when I was in high school, and It was fun to remember, yet I realized something. I had some good times, yet there is no going back. If I were to return to high school, or my old home, I would feel misplaced, and I would not really fit. I would be too old for high school, and the classes wouldn't satisfy. None of the friends I miss are there, they have all moved on too. The only way I have to go is forward. Yipee!!! I'm going to be like Nephi and be courageous! The little voice in my head, its going to sit in the back seat. I'm going to play this game of college hard, and powerfully. I can't waif tor the fun times, the stress times, and the homesick times. I guess they are all apart of the experience!
Speaking of fun times, this weekend my and my "friends" had some sweet times. We went to a get to know your dorm party on Friday night, which was fun, followed by a movie watching with Emmilie and Courtney. On Saturday, I went running in the morning around the ENTIRE campus! (it was probably a mile and a half) Then we decided to go to the big festival, Bloomberg Unplugged! We walked all the way downtown, (about a block) and checked it out. The whole function occupied a few feet.

The music really wasn’t half bad. I enjoyed that aspect of it. The rest seemed to be an excuse to hand students flyer's. They didn’t even have coupons on it. I did learn that I can in fact earn $60 a week donating plasma. I don’t think it will work out though, I can’t even think about it with out getting sick. We snapped some photos, mostly to prove that I had friends, and continued on our way.

This is me and a Key.

Three girls I just found and made stand together to pretend to know me.

We just walked around and saw the shops and such. We found a way cute bagel shop. They had a student special, 99 cents for a special drink if you are a student. I got a drink called bubble ice. If you want more details, ask. I don’t feel like explaining it. I then proceeded to a grocery store, where I bought $12.00 worth of food. Yum.

Later that night we went to a concert. It was an acappella concert. My friend Courtney and I dance and rocked out the entire time.

So fun. I’m pretty sure it was not a concert that wasn’t made for dancing. Oh well. There were some nice boys behind us that asked us to go eat pizza, but we didn’t. It was awkward. We came home and watched Step Up. Practically one of the best movies ever! So that was My weekend. I must conclude this blog, but stay tuned for more super sweet exiting stuff.
PS. Here is an updated picture of my bed, including my very lovely quilt. Thanks mommy!

Food fun n' games

I have only been here for the space of four days and a half, yet it feels like its been way longer. The past few days have been packed full of stuff; orientation, dances, ice cream, meeting new people, forgeting their names, getting used to my roommates, and other stuff. Its been way too much fun! I have been eating well, thanks to mi madre, and I have even cooked. Thats right. Cooked. On my own. No help. I'm growin up! Don't believe me? Well I can prove it. I took pictures.

Sunday night we baked a pudding cake. MMMM good! We took it to Emmilie's house where a bunch of people were visiting. Emmilie and I took it and ran away to her room and ate a piece. Nobody else wanted some...... or else they thought it was poisoned. They all ate Emmilie's burnt cookies though! So what if I was supposed to start the timer........

(notice lovely fashion statement)

This is my balanced meal! With veggies, and HOMEMADE almost from scratch pizza. I did my very best. It was hard without a cheese grater. I just kind of used a veggie peeler to take some chunks out of the brick o cheese. Then I put feta cheese, and sandwich meat. I liked it....it was a little gooy due to the fact that it didn't receive the whole required cooking time. The apartment was starting to smoke, so I took it out.

Another cool thing, I started class today. I have only been to one, but it seemed like it was going to be neato. I am sooooooooo excited to learn again!!!! I love this school, and I love all that there is to do here. Its basically an extension of Utah, but more Utah than Utah really is. We were looking at movies at Walmart, and a lady, obviously LDS, started helping us find a clean one we would enjoy. It caused me to chuckle. My friend and I started being sarcastic and saying we wanted a murder movie or something....we read aloud all the disturbing movie titles as if we were suggesting them. The kind lady then began suggesting scary ones. It was funny. Later at walmart, we bought Emmilie a beta. His name is Ophelia. He is gay. Don't tell the administration or he will get kicked out of the girls dorms! He'll probably drown soon anyways..................

Good things about Rexburg,

1. Jamba
2. Coldstone
3. pretty gardens
4. Everyone is attractive

Bad things about Rexburg

1. Its FREEZING!!!! (send warm clothes!!!)
2. Its FREEZING!!!!!
3. There are no Polynesians.

Thats an overview of the beginning of my story.

Movin In....yay!

Hey! I moved in today! With a few tears, shopping trips, meltdowns and meltups I'm feelin'pretty good about it. I have a fantastic roomy named Aimee. I like her. We have another roommate from a far away land, and the fourth is MIA. We know nothing about her, and have heard nothing.

Here are the pictures of the process.....

Step 1. Shopping

Yes, my mommy loves me. Yes, I will be eating on this new adventure of college. All of you who worried about me, Ha. I'm fine!

Step 2. Unpacking

Step 3. All (almost) done!

So, that is a brief tour. I hope you enjoyed it. I hope that I survive this crazy first week and that I am able to write again.....Until next time, remember, its a beautiful day in your neighborhood!

I like to move it move it....

So, I've been working on cleaning up my stuff and packing up. Everyone in my family has been helping out! Its great!

First, notice how much fun I was having!

Here is my lovely mother slaving over my beautiful college quilt. So full of sweet lovin....

Here is my dad! He is fixin' my computer! Yay dad!

This is my room...part of it anyways. Its getting empty...or clean. I can't decide. Either way I will definatly miss this comfortable lifestyle I have grown accustomed to.

So this is it. Fun stuff eh? I can't wait to begin my new adventure, the new chapter of my fairytale life. I'm not sure if it will be a disney version, or a grim brothers version! Just you wait....

Work.

i can do it
i can stay at work and not run out screaming.
i think i can.
i think i can.
i think i can.
the door is about twenty steps away.
i must.
i must.

Only four more days...36 hours....

And so my life at work continues as thus. I am counting down the seconds left here, not because its horrible or anything, just because my brain cells are melting away. Every second spent on a mindless task makes another one disappear. If college were not around the corner, I don't know if I could survive.....

Hey!

This is my new college blog. I will keep ya'll up to date on the wild and fantastical adventures that I encounter! Stay tuned....
