Oranges

I just had the most succulent orange I've ever tasted for lunch. It was sweet, and juicy, and just the right ripeness. It worth every stinging jolt to my canker sores. As I ate the orange I couldn't help but feel like it was a last meal. I'm not sure why, but I've been feeling like every meal is my last meal lately. On Sunday before I left my home in Idaho I ate an extra tamale, knowing that this would be the last opportunity to eat my mom's delicious cooking, and who knows if they have Mexican food in England! Who knows if they have succulent oranges, or diet coke for that matter! Saying goodbye to America, not knowing exactly what things I'm actually saying goodbye to is an interesting sensation. All the things I love seem to be teasing me, without the promise of them being there next week. Or the next...So I tease back. I eat an extra lard filled tamale. I look past the sores on my tongue and enjoy another orange. I give a toast to the world, and drink another diet Coke.

Oranges are one of those things that if they are good they are really good, but if they are bad they are the worst. Good luck this semester, we love and will miss you.

Good luck in London, Mary! I loved it there and I'm sure you will, too.
