Leftovers
Everyday for lunch since January I have had the same thing, with slight variations. It consists of a sandwich- either PB&J or turkey, a yogurt or applesauce cup, an apple or bannana, and pretzels. Depending on the week some of these elements may or may not be present. When I run out of things I improvise, and just bring what I have. Well, this lunch is good. It fills me up. Gives me the energy I need to do what I've got to do. However, today when I was in the break room getting a spoon for my yogurt I realized what I've been missing out on. I saw a lucky boy putting his leftover lasagna in the microwave and an intense feeling of jealousy swept over me. I pictured his loving mother who probably made it for dinner the night before, and how good it must taste. I miss eating interesting hearty foods. I miss variety in my diet. I miss you Mom. I miss your cooking.
