Easter

Growing up easter wasn't a big production in our home. We mostly just went to church, and ate dinner as a family. My mom would usually give us ten bucks or so the day after easter to buy as much candy as we could. It was nice. Because if this there are good and not as good consequences. The good thing is I have low expecations for what Easter should be like, and it does provide opportunities to really focus on what the holiday is about rather than the commercial side of it. There really isn't a down side to it. This Easter I didn't even think about going home until all but one of my roommates went home to be with their families. I then said, "Hey! Whats the big idea?" I missed them a lot. Not just because everyone was gone, or because all there was a ton of fun stuff going on at home with visiting cousins and cute babies. :) I missed you!

In the absence of my family we did have a nice Easter of our own making. The bishop had the whole ward over for lunch which was amazing. mmmm. We also made our own dinner. We did an experiment and tried to make the cafe rio pork, which we cam really close. Too much cumin... We also made frog eye salad, and Marie Calendar's peach pie. The best part of the whole day was when I got to fly my new kite! Better than that was when I got it stuck in a tree! I can't imagine a better tragedy to befall a kite. We did manage to rescue it for more fun later though. This was the Easter celebration of my creation. I'm so grateful to have holidays to remind us of family, friends, and more importantly the Savior Jesus Christ, and his life and death on our behalf.
