Oh hello again

Hello Blogging World! It has been quite a long time since I've felt inspired enough to string any words together for the world to read. I suppose I skipped all summer, so here's a brief update.

I went to EFY. And by this I mean that I went as an employee, not a participant. I was a Building Counselor, which in short means that I was the counselors counselor. I wasn't ever assigned a group of youth, only counselors. I love love loved it. I learned a lot about teaching, and teaching how to teach. I was on the Midwest team, which meant that every week we road tripped out to a new campus for a new session. This was the order of the sessions I did this summer:
1. St. Peter, MN
2. Normal, IL
3. Nauvoo, IL
4. Bloomington, IN
5. Cinninatti, OH
6. Kirtland, OH
7. Bowling Green, KY
8. Lawrence, KS
9. Nauvoo, IL

It was quite an adventure. To see more in detail what transpired, check out my friend's blog.

This brings us to today. Or August. The two weeks before school started I just slept and slept and slept. I got a little bit sick after my summer of workin hard, so it was nice to catch up. Now I'm a college kid again. I swallow my pride every single day when I remember that this is my sixth year. It makes me want to cry. However, I'm in teacher classes now, and solely working on my certification to teach. It is fun to draw connections to classes that I have taken that aren't necessarily required to take for the English Teaching major, but because I took such a long round-about path I've gotten the chance to take them. I tell myself every day that I am receiving/ have received a great education, which is more important than the actual degree. Besides, sometimes I look at my friends who have graduated and don't have jobs or any idea of what they want to do next in life, and it feels nice to be safely tucked away in the university safety net.

In other news, the training for the St. George Marathon is a GO! I wasn't able to train all summer, which just left me 8 weeks to train. It is going better than I thought. I went for a good 14.5 miler last Saturday, and have a 16 miler scheduled for this coming Saturday. I'm starting to feel like a real runner a little bit. 26.2 miles scares me to think about, so I try not to.

To finish:
I still work at the library.
I still eat pb&j regularly.
I still am addicted to ice cream.
I no longer drink diet coke. Very much. Only when I'm driving home or something. Or I'm so so tired.
That's all.
