Haikus

I tried my hand at the art of writing haikus in an attempt to overcome and intense episode of writers block. I was supposed to write a haiku about an object I could see in front of me. At first it started out as complying with that prompt, but it evolved into an animal all its own.

lime green reading lamp
casts a slime green light on me
give me popsicles

seaweed painted toes
sun bleached and sand worn
barefoot summer bliss

I want every boy.
Menstruation cycle hormones
get the best of me.

Ice cream calls my name
and secretly grows my waist
as well as my heart.

the art of haiku
writing isn’t something I
feel good about stop

so few syllables
to encapsule a moment
through whitespace and black.
