On Tuesday when I walked to work, at approximately 7:52 AM it began to snow-the cold, wet, not pretty kind of snow. It's a good thing flowers are still blooming, and the grass is still getting greener or I fear I would be too depressed to ever leave my bed in the morning! I need Mr. Sun to step up to his task now, and to stop hiding behind the clouds.
Despite the weather's indecision, school is officially out for the summer which leaves me free and careless for the next four months! Yesterday I didn't work until 5 pm. When I woke up in the morning, it was the strangest feeling not having anything I should be doing. I was almost at a loss as to how to spend my day. Luckily, It was easy to fill up. I went to the church humanitarian center and tied quilts for a few hours, I ran, I shoe shopped, and that pretty much filled the day right up. Summer always brings wide open opportunity to do and make whatever I want, which can turn into an overwhelming sensation if I don't make us of what I'm given. So I've made some plans/goals to be accomplished in the following months.
1. Hit on someone at the library- as in give them my number, not punch them. The Spring/Summer semester boy/girl ratio seems to be largely in my favor. At one point last night I counted 44 boys and only 14 girls in the Learning Commons area by the desk I work at. The majority of the boys seemed to be recently returned missionaries, attending their first semester after returning home. They seem to be overzealous in the fact that they were at the library at 9:00 pm on only the second day of classes. I just feel like I need to take advantage of my position at the desk at least once while the fields are ripe and ready to harvest. Just once, to exercise my brave muscle.
2. Read 10 books. At least.
3. Go swimming at least twice a week (once it gets to be above 70 degrees outside).
4. Study for the GRE for two hours a day. A necessary evil- I signed up to take it June 14th.
5. Run run run as fast as I can so I don't die in the Ragnar relay.
6. Hike Mt. Timp, Squaw Peak, and any other mountain I come across.
7. Road trip to the beach.
8. Work 40 hrs a week. It seems like a given, but if I want to work full time I have to actually agree to take people's shifts or work extra on my library internship projects which I think will become harder as far as will-power is concerned as the summer progresses...
9. Start a club to play whiffle ball and kickball once a week.
10. Learn 3 new songs on the guitar, and practice the piano at least once a week. Maybe I'll even write a new song (but maybe not).
11. Make 2 new lifelong friends, and 5 new fun to hang out with friends. The categories can overlap if need be.
